Could I borrow a drill?

After having scoured the city for apartments and seeing all the 'closets' New York has to offer, I am pleasantly surprised at the one I landed last week.

WHY I LOVE MY APT. REASON #1: The lobby of my building has a speaker system that plays music all day and all night, which cracks me up. I never know if I'm gonna get Tina Turner or James Taylor. Either way, it's a nice start to the day. REASON #2: (and I know I've already mentioned this) BUT Mario Cantone (from Sex and the City) lives in our building and I see him every few days, which makes my girly heart flutter. My roommate Natalie actually chased him down the street last night just to get a glimpse of him. I'm sure he hates us already. REASON #3: We have laundry in the building and it's literally right outside my bedroom door. The machines steal $3 from me every time, but I'm glad to give it up. It's getting cold here, and going to the laundromat down the street just doesn't sound like fun. REASON #4: The little old man at the deli next door makes the most brilliant BLT's on a bagel that I've ever had. He's seen my face every night this week. (I'm a creature of habit....what can I say?). REASON #5: I found two great roommates. Natalie is from Wisconsin and Mili is from South Carolina. We've already shared air mattresses, held ladders for each other, cleaned up a dishwasher explosion together (my fault completely), etc. etc. They are both very sweet, and I'm glad I found them.

The apartment is coming together. My room is now a lovely shade of green called 'rustic drama'... we now have curtains in the living room (thanks to my friend adam who volunteered to drill all the rods into the wall for us)... and we actually have plates to eat off of. The neighbor boys are Florida fans...but other than that, everything is peachy.

Oh...and I will never quit saying 'y'all.' People just don't appreciate the convenience of this word here. They don't know what they're missing.

And in other news... I have a friend visiting this weekend and another one visiting next weekend. I'm feeling the love, and enjoying the chance to share this beautiful city with them. You are all welcome anytime.

Hope everyone is doing well. Ciao...

LAUREN
